Mangalorean Jenji Gassi (Crab curry)




  • Half kg cleaned Crab

  • Lemon sized tamarind

  • Water as needed

  • Salt as per taste

to Dry roast

  • 3-4 Bydagi Chilli

  • 1 tablespoon Coriander Seeds

  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds

  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds

  • 1 teaspoon Pepper seeds

  • 1 whole Medium Size Onion

  • 1 Tomato

  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves

  • Half cup of Grated Coconut


  • Clean the crab and keep it in a bowl.

  • Dry roast the above given ingredients and add it to the blender to make a paste

  • Add the paste to a vessel, add water to make the curry bit thin.

  • Let it boil well and then add the crabs and also add salt as per taste

  • Let the crabs cook for 10 minutes and serve it hot with Rice.
